Firesold

I’m now one of the thousands of schmucks that recently purchased an HP Touchpad during the latest crazy fire sale.  I’d explain what that was all about, but I already did, and the browser on the touchpad crashed before I could post it.  I also had a minor review about the pad, but that was also lost.  As you can probably figure, my opinion about it just changed a little.

Now it’s time to get back to hacking this thing so it performs better.

This was posted, again, on my touchpad.

I’m having very good results with the Fujitsu Stylistic 5030 (pen tablet). I got SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 to work on it but it took some fandangling. What I ended up having to do is get grub to work with the pen-tip set in the bios. That never happened so I ended up disabling that and use the arrow keys instead, which sped up boot times as well. I did have to create an extensive list of gestures to make it worth while. Now I’m leaning towards just saying f*(& it and just switching my GUI to fluxbox. It runs so much better on any machine and as a minimalist, its in my blood.

If it’s any consolation, it out preformed any current tablet I have used extensively. (Toshiba Thrive, Kindle Fire, Blackberry Playbook and the fastest of the Touch Tablets; the ASUS Eee Pad Transformer.)

    Happy hacking ;D
